Google Workspace Wizardry

The inaugural Olus-Google Showcase event took place in Google’s European HQ in June 2025. This edition of the event was sponsored by NCC, Mairead O’Leary Opticians and Greavy & Co Accountants, and saw over 1,000 students and 50+ teachers participating.

The goal was simple: more students and more teachers using technology more productively!

Alan Looney, Managing Director of NCC, said: “The Workspace Wizardry programme is a brilliant example of how creativity, digital skills and safety can be combined to empower young people. We’re delighted to have played a part in making this possible.”

For Olus, the motivation for this event was simple: many, many schools find digital skills to be a really challenging area, and with all the other demands placed on them it’s easy for it to fall by the wayside. At Olus, we believe that Digital Skills are foundational for students’ future success, and that we should be doing everything in our power to build those skills and to give them the leverage to approach the future with confidence.

Participants in this programme received access to learning modules on the Olus system, alongside webinars designed to support their learning around online safety and Google Workspace. At the end of the project they produced and presented projects on how to stay safe online - and it’s safe to say that we were blown away by the standard of both the slideshows and the presentations they made!

Over 2 hours in Google HQ we heard a dozen presentations and saw over 100 students take the stage, discussing the importance of online safety, the kinds of dangers children face online, and the many things that we can all do to reduce risks and to handle problems if and when they do arise.

Massive thanks to all the schools that participated, and in particular the sponsors who made it possible: Google for Education, NCC, Mairead O’Leary Opticians and Greavy & Co Accountants.
