Kickstart Digital Learning in your School
Join other schools in a fun and engaging digital learning programme this spring
Olus Education is partnering with local businesses and schools all over the country to support digital learning and online safety. With support from local businesses, schools can take part in this 12 week programme for FREE!
Participants will receive access to lesson plans and videos on Olus, as well as ongoing webinars and support from Olus’ team of digital learning experts. At the end of the project students will complete a digital learning project, and schools will have the opportunity to send reprentatives to take part in a showcase event where they will show their work and learn even more about the exciting world of digital technology and online safety.
Built for teachers
Olus is built for teachers - and we know you aren’t all tech experts!
Everything on the Olus platform is designed to be simple and accessible, even to the most technophobic teachers! Olus’ lessons are approachable and fun, and both teachers and students will love engaging with the world of technology in a simple and safe environment.
Be part of a community
Most schools want to do more with digital technology, but it isn’t easy. Access to devices is just the start - finding or creating age appropriate and engaging lessons is also a huge challenge. By joining Olus’ spring programme you’ll be joining a community of like-minded educators. Some are experts, but many are learning alongside the students, and that’s absolutely fine!
Showcase for Schools and Donors
Throughout the 12 week programme students will learn the skills needed to create a project using creative digital technologies.
At the end of the 12 weeks, students will also have earned a certificate of completion, and a showcase event with the company who sponsored your school would be a great way to cap the project!
Spring 2025 - Project Outline
Students will focus initially on exploring essential online safety topics that represent real dangers they are facing an an age-appropriate way. Next, they will build a creative digital project to demonstrate and share their understanding of the topic. The students will select their preferred creative, digital tool to build the project. They will learn all the skills required to use that tool through their personal Olus learning portal.
The next programme is scheduled to begin in late February 2025.
Our Mission
Gavin and Diarmuid built Olus to give every student the chance to learn the digital skills that are essential for success in the modern world.
From online safety, to how to use Google Workspace or Microsoft, or even advanced coding - Olus is here to ensure no child gets left behind. Typical barriers to learning these essential skills include a lack of financing for schools, the digital skills and confidence of teachers, and available time for teachers to upskill. Olus can solve this by removing the need for traditional training and enabling the teacher to learn alongside the students through the Olus learning portal. This means that every student can start learning tomorrow, no matter where they are, what devices they have in their school, or who their teacher is.
Gavin Molloy (L) is a former primary school teacher and university lecturer. Diarmuid Ó Muirgheasa (R) is a software engineer who has taught Leaving Cert computer science in The Institute of Education and The Dublin Academy of Education.
